NCAA tourney expanding to 96 teams -- good?

As you may have read, the NCAA tournament looks like it's going to expand to 96 teams.

While this may be good for GW, as the team would have a higher chance of getting in, I don't like it too much because it lessens the cache, and thus the excitement, of getting in. It would also arguably make the regular season less important -- although for mid-majors and the like, stronger schedules and quality wins could mean more are included.
